Arctic Cruise : Sailing South Spitsbergen, 8 days/7 nights
This two-masted sailing vessel was originally built in 1910 but has since been restored into a unique 20 passenger ship capable of the sailing the world's seven seas. Because of its smaller size of only 20 passengers, you will have a more intimate experience helping with the sails on the vessel and spending lots of time with Zodiac landings and on-shore excursions.

All cabins have upper and lower berths, a cupboard, and a wash basin with hot and cold water.

Day 01 : Longyearbyen-Alkhornet-Tryghamna
After arriving Longyearbyen, the administrative center of Spitsbergen, you may wish to visit the Svalbard Museum with its interesting collection of history pertaining to Spitsbergen, the mining industry, and polar exploration. In the afternoon we will sail for Alkhornet home to a large colony of Kittiwakes. Below the cliffs is a den with Arctic Foxes which scavenge fallen eggs and chicks. We will continue to Tryghamna to visit the remains of the seventeenth century English whaling station and an eighteenth century Russian Pomor station.
Day 02 : Bell Sund: Ingeborgfjellet-Fridtjofhamna
We will leave Tryghamna early in the morning and sail to the north side of Bell Sund, where we will walk the cliffs of Ingeborgfjellet and vist a glacier front in Fridtjofhamna.
Day 03-04 : Hornsund-Isbjørnhamna
Continuing our exploration of southern Spitsbergen, we will sail into the labyrinth of side fjords in Hornsund. Behind Brepollen, a large glacial deposit at the head of the fjord, we will sail along a beautiful glacier front with great opportunity to see Bearded Seals and Polar Bears. The geological formations in this area are very spectacular and colorful. We will also pay a visit to the Polish research station at Isbjørnhamna where the friendly crew will discuss their scientific programs.
Day 05 : Bell Sund: Ahlstrandhalvöya
We will sail back into Bell Sund to Ahlstrandhalvöya, with its interesting geological formations and the remains of the twentieth century Beluga whaling industry. Bell Sund is a good area for observing Belugas and Polar Bears.
Day 06 : Barentsburg/Colesbukta
We will pay a visit to Barentsburg, the only inhabited Russian settlement in Spitsbergen, or to Colesbukta, an abandoned Russian coal mining settlement.
Day 07 : Isfjord
We will sail into the inner reaches of the Isfjord system, where during nights with clear skies we will experience temperatures of minus 10 degrees C, and new ice will be forming on the heads of the fjords.
Day 08 : Disembarkation
We will arrive in Longyearbyen where we will disembark and fly home. Depending when you travel this tour you may have a good chance of seeing the famous Northern Lights.
