This modern research vessel belongs to the Hydrographic Institute of Saint Ptersburg and is reinforced for ice and sailing in the frozen conditions of the Polar Regions. The ship offers travelers a dining room, lounge, library, infirmary, and sauna. The vessel is also great for excursions with its several Zodiac boats well suited for land tours and wildlife watching.

You will sail from South America, around Cape Horn, and on to Antarctica, explore the gorgeous South Shetland Islands. At the end of your voyage you will return to Punta Arenas by airplane. You will have the chance to make various landings enjoying the impressive landscapes and rich wildlife.
Day 01 : Embarkation
We will embark the Grigoriy Mikheev and sail across the Beagle Channel toward the Chilean town of Puerto Williams. From here we will head south toward the great white continent of Antarctica.
Day 02-03 : Heading South to Antarctica
In the morning, we will wake up alongside the famous Cape Horn. As long as weather permits we will board the Zodiacs to visit one of the most legendary islands on the planet. Once on board again we will head toward the Drake Passage accompanied by the famous albatross and South Giant Petrels leading the way. Our nature experts will give lectures on both the rich biodiversity and history of the region as well as help search for whales like the Humpback and Minke on their way to Antarctica.
Day 04 : South Shetland Islands
We will soon spot our first icebergs as the South Shetland Islands come into sight. We will then make our first landing in the Zodiacs in the afternoon and will continue our exploration into the night thanks to the never-setting sun.
Day 05 : Flight to Punta Arenas
We will reach King George Island, home to many international science stations and will visit the Chilean Frei Base as well as the Russian Bellingshausen Base. Afterward, we will meet at the aerodrome where we will board our flight back to Punta Arenas, Chile.
